SNAP benefits can be used for online grocery orders in nearly every state. The rule that changed is simple: the food is covered, the delivery fee and the tip are not, so those need a second card on file.

Before you order

  • Add the EBT card in the store's payment settings first — some retailers will not show SNAP-eligible prices until you do.
  • Eligible items are marked in the basket. Anything unmarked will be charged to the second card.
  • Pickup is usually free where delivery is not. If the fee is the problem, pickup solves it.

If benefits have not landed yet, a local pantry or 211 covers the same week without anything to pay back — and neither one asks for repayment.
