If your pay lands in a bank account, a cash advance app is usually the fastest and cheapest way to cover $200: the apps below list no interest and no credit check in their own terms, and the standard transfer is the free one.
If your pay does not land in an account, an extra shift that cashes out the same evening, or one thing you already own and can sell today, gets you there with no fee at all.
Eight ways follow, ordered by how fast the money moves and what it costs. B9 is not a bank or a lender, and nothing here is an offer or a promise of approval.
1. A cash advance app
Time to money: the fastest listings in our catalog put it in minutes. Dave's reads "Up to $500 in 5 min or less*" and Klover's reads "Access up to $750 instantly*". Both carry an asterisk, and both providers set their own rules for who qualifies.
What it costs: the advance itself is listed without interest — B9 Basic is described as "No credit checks", "No interest", "No late fees". The cost shows up elsewhere: in a paid plan, and in the fee for getting money right now instead of on the standard schedule. Earnin states it plainly: "Expedited transfers available for a fee." Waiting for the standard transfer is the one fee you can skip.
The catch: these read your bank account before deciding anything, and B9's own terms say limits "depend on your direct deposit history and plan". If nothing regular lands in your account, this route gets thinner.
The same $200, done the expensive way. Let the balance go negative instead and the typical overdraft fee is $35 (B9 internal research, September 2026). Two charges go through before payday and that is $35 + $35 = $70 to borrow $200 from yourself for a few days. A payday loan at the typical price of $15 per $100 (B9 internal research, September 2026) costs $30 on the same $200. Those two numbers are the bar every option here has to beat.
2. An extra shift or a same-day gig
Time to money: tonight, if the platform or the employer pays out the same day. Ask before you start, not after.
What it costs: your evening, gas, and on most gig apps a fee if you cash out instantly instead of waiting for the regular payout, which is free. Delivery, warehouse shifts, event setup, cleaning and moving are the usual same-day categories.
This is the option with no approval step, and the $200 is yours to keep rather than to repay on payday. An advance moves the shortfall to your next paycheck; a shift does not.
3. Sell one thing you already own
Time to money: same day for a local cash sale; longer if you ship it.
What it costs: nothing in fees, and the item. Phones, tablets, game consoles, power tools, bikes and headphones move fastest. Buyback counters at electronics and game stores pay less than a private buyer but pay today. Price it to sell in a day, not to get what it is worth — a listing that sits for a week solves nothing.
4. Ask for more time on the bill
Time to money: one phone call.
What it costs: usually nothing, and sometimes it removes the need for the $200 entirely.
Before borrowing $200 to pay a bill, find out what that bill actually does if it is late. Some accounts have a grace period. Some will move a due date if you call ahead. Utilities in many states have payment plans and shutoff protections you have to ask for by name. The script is short: say what you can pay now, say when the rest arrives, ask what keeps the account current.
Call before the due date. After it, you are asking for a favor; before it, you are arranging a payment.
5. Ask family or a friend
Time to money: as fast as a text.
What it costs: nothing in dollars. The cost is the awkward part, and it gets smaller when you name an exact amount and an exact date — "$200 on Friday" lands very differently from "some money for a while".
6. Local help: 211, food banks, utility and rent programs
Time to money: usually not same day, so start it in parallel with something faster.
What it costs: nothing. This is real money that you do not repay, and most people skip it because they assume they will not qualify.
Dial 211 or use 211.org to find local assistance by ZIP code: rent and utility help, food pantries, prescription help. A food pantry this week frees up the grocery money you were going to borrow — same result as having the $200. Many utilities also run hardship funds, so ask the utility directly too.
7. A small loan through a marketplace
Time to money: our catalog lists LendingTree's speed as "Minutes" and CashAdvanceFinder's as "Fast". That is the speed of seeing options. Funding is a separate step and takes longer.
What it costs: whatever the lender you pick charges. The marketplace does not set that, and neither does B9 — B9 is not the lender and does not set rates, limits or terms.
For exactly $200 this is usually the wrong tool: you get matched with lenders sized for much larger amounts. The catalog lists LendingTree at up to $5,000 for "All scores" and CashAdvanceFinder at up to $1,000 for "All types" of credit. Use them when the real number is far above $200.
8. Payday loan or a credit card cash advance
Time to money: fast, which is the only thing these have going for them.
What it costs: a payday loan at the typical $15 per $100 (B9 internal research, September 2026) costs $30 on $200. If it rolls over, it costs that again. A card cash advance is priced by your own card agreement: look up the cash advance fee and the cash advance rate before you use the ATM, because they are usually not the same as the purchase rate.
Both are last here on purpose. If you end up on this line, borrow the smallest amount that solves the problem and put the repayment date in your phone the same day.

One reading note on that last row: Earnin's stated daily access is $150, under the $200 you came for, inside a stated max of $1,000 between paydays. So $200 through Earnin is not a one-day move.
What is the cheapest way to get $200 before payday?
The ways that cost nothing: an extra shift, selling something, moving the due date, asking family, and local assistance through 211. Among the paid options, an advance taken on the standard transfer avoids the instant-transfer fee. All of the free routes beat the $35 overdraft fee and the $30 a payday loan costs on $200 (both B9 internal research, September 2026).
Can I get $200 with no credit check?
Several providers in the table list "No credit check" in their own terms, including Dave, Cleo, Current and Earnin, and B9 Basic lists "No credit checks". That is what the terms say, not a decision — each provider applies its own requirements and may say no.
Does taking a cash advance show up on my credit report?
Go by what each provider states. Current's terms in our catalog say "No credit checks. No credit reporting." Others describe the credit check but not the reporting, so check the provider's own disclosures before assuming either way.
How fast can $200 actually arrive?
The fastest claims in the catalog are Dave's "Up to $500 in 5 min or less*" and Klover's "Access up to $750 instantly*", both asterisked and both dependent on qualifying first. A same-day gig payout or a local sale can be just as fast and costs no fee. Anything routed through a lender takes longer than the "Minutes" it takes to see options.
